Wildcats take down Crimson Hawks in Exhibition Game

Philadelphia PA: College Basketball made its Wells Fargo Center debut for the 2016-17 season on Saturday afternoon as the Defending National Champion Villanova Wildcats took on IUP Crimson Hawks in a exhibition game. Before the game, Villanova unveiled the 2016 & 1985 Championship banners.
Villanova won the tip to start the game and they would score the game first points on 3 pointer by Mikal Bridges for the early 3-0 lead, IUP would get on the board with basket by Jacobo Diaz to cut into the lead. IUP would make this game very interesting as they would cut into the Wildcats lead at 15-13 on basket by Brandon Spain with 10:48 left in the 1st half. After the Wildcats called timeout, they would wake up and take full control and make their shots especially from 3pt range as the Wildcats would take a 51-23 lead into halftime.
IUP got ball to start the 2nd half and would try to cut into the Wildcats lead as they would get it down to 29 points at 65-36 with 13:05 left. The defense by the Wildcats just took over, making their 3 pointers and the lead would get up to 43. a crowd of 5,617 came out and saw the defending national champion Villanova Wildcats roll to a 94-49 win over IUP. the Wildcats will open the 2016-17 on Friday November 11 when they host Lafayette while IUP opens the season against Lincoln also on November 11.
