Wildcats 3 pt Shooting takes down Hawks

Villanova PA: There are certain games that get a lot of attention in the city of Philadelphia during the college basketball season & the “Holy War” is one of them and that is what took place on Saturday afternoon as the Number 2 ranked Villanova Wildcats took on Saint Joseph’s Hawks from the Pavilion on the campus of Villanova University. Villanova comes into game with (7-0, 1-0 in Big 5) and off a win over Penn on November 29 while Saint Joseph’s enters encounter with the Wildcats with (3-3, 0-1 in Big 5) and off a loss to Temple on November 30.
Villanova won tip to start the game, the scoring got started on 3 pointer by Saint Joseph’s Charlie Brown, the Wildcats would answer back on 3 pointer by Mikal Bridges to even the score at 3, the wildcats would open up a 6 point lead at 20-14 with 12:23 left in 1st half. Saint Joseph’s would go on a run which saw them take their 1st lead of the game on 3 pointer by Shavar Newkirk for a 23-22 lead with 8:50 left in 1st half & the Hawks would grown the lead to 3 at 27-24 with 6:06 left. The Wildcats would answer the run by the Hawks which saw the grown the lead to 13 as the Villanova lead 44-31 at halftime.
Saint Joseph’s got ball to start the 2nd half and they looked to get back into the game but it would be a uphill battle the rest of the way as the Wildcats would be making their 3 point shooting which basically blew the game wide open and the Hawks did not have an answer. A Sold out crowd saw Villanova take down Saint Joseph’s 88-57 to remain undefeated at 8-0, with Number 1 Kentucky losing, there is a good possibility that Villanova could be the new Number 1 team in the Nation on Monday when the AP top 25 Poll comes out. The Wildcats now look to another big 5 game on Tuesday as they take on LaSalle from the Palestra, With the loss Saint Joseph’s falls to (3-4, 0-2 in Big 5) and have to rebound and get ready to play Drexel on December 11. The Story in this game was the 3pt shooting for Villanova which they made 16 out of 34 for 47%.
