Villanova Wildcats run over Great Danes on Homecoming

Villanova PA: It is always a fun time to see all the alumni and former players come back on campus for homecoming and that is what we had on Saturday afternoon as the Villanova Wildcats took on Albany Great Danes in a CAA action from Villanova Stadium on the campus of Villanova University. Villanova enters the game with record of (5-2, 3-1 in CAA) and off a shutout loss to Richmond while Albany comes into game against the Wildcats with a (4-2, 1-2 in CAA) and off a loss to Maine.

Albany wins toss & defers to 2nd half, Villanova got ball to start the game, they would get 1 first down and have to punt. Villanova would open the scoring on a 2 yard TD by RB Aaron Forbes for early 7-0 lead. The Wildcats would add to the lead as RB Matt Gudzak scores from 2 yards out to make it 14-0. the Wildcats had a good chance to add more points to end the 1st half but bad clock management as the Wildcats took a 14-0 lead into halftime.

Albany got ball to start the 2nd half and they went 3 and out. The Wildcats would walk down for a Touchdown by aaron Forbes from 3 yards out for his 2nd of game to make it 21-0. Villanova would add field goal for 24-0 lead. Albany would not go away and show that they still had fight in them when RB Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks breaks off a 65 yard TD & then Great Dane would recover a fumble and Michael Nicastro would return it 40 yards for TD to make things interesting but the Wildcats would just be too much for the Great Danes as the Wildcats would win this game 24-13. The Wildcats now go to (6-2, 4-1 in CAA) and have a bye week then return to play Maine on November 5 . With the loss Albany falls to (4-3, 1-3 in CAA) and their next game is Elon on October 29.  The story of this game was the 9 sacks that Villanova got on defense and rushed for 269 yards on offense.
