Villanova Upsets Number 5 Louisville

On Tuesday, January 22 from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia PA, the Villanova Wildcats took on the nationally ranked Number 5 Louisville Cardinals. Villanova came into the game off a loss to Providence on January 19th. Louisville also came into this game off a loss to Syracuse which lost Louisville its number 1 ranking. The game was broadcast on the Big East Network, as well as PHL 17 for the Philadelphia Area.
Louisville started with the ball to begin the game. The first Points of the game went to Louisville from the foul line from Peyton Siva, who made both free throw shots. The first points for Villanova went to Darrun Hilliard with a three pointer. There was a lot of sloppy play by both Villanova and Louisville in the first half with some very questionable calls by the officials Villanova would take a 30-28 lead at halftime. The leading scorer for Louisville in the 1st half was Wayne Blackshear with 8 points, The leading scorer for Villanova in the 1st Half was JayVaughn Pinkston and Darrun Hilliard, each with six points
Louisville started the second half with the ball. Louisville would take the lead in the second half, but their foul shots would come back to hurt the Cardinals. A big three pointer by Villanova’s James Bell made it a 59-55 with 2:42 left in the 2nd Half. With under two minutes left, the security at the Wells Fargo Center got ready for the Villanova students to rush the court. Villanova defeated Number 5 Louisville 73-64
