Villanova takes down NJIT Highlanders

Villanova PA: On Tuesday December 23 from The Pavilion on the campus of Villanova University, the seventh ranked undefeated Villanova Wildcats hosted NJIT Highlanders. Villanova comes into game off a comeback overtime win over Syracuse while NJIT comes into game off a win over Central Connecticut. The game was broadcasted on FOX Sports 1 with Justin Kutcher & Ron Tompson calling the action. Before the game, there was a moment of silence for Michael Sullivan, a beloved member of the Villanova University Ground Staff.
Villanova won the tip to start the game, Villanova would hit 3 pointer to open the scoring by Dylan Ennis, Villanova would open a 5-0 lead before NJIT got on board by Philadelphia own Ky Howard. NJIT would keep the game very close and NJIT would take the lead 37-36 lead with 3:27 left in the 1st half, when NIT took the lead, Villanova Coach Jay Wright got nailed with Technical Foul. NJIT would grown the lead to 3 and take a 44-41 lead over Villanova at halftime, at this point, everyone inside the Pavilion thinking could NJIT take down another ranked team like when they defeated Michigan.
NJIT got ball to begin the 2nd half and they picked up where they left off and they would increase the lead to 7 points at 48-42 at 16:38 left in 2nd half. Villanova would go on a run and they would retake the lead at 53-51 at 12:12 left. NJIT would make multiple attempts to recreate what they did against Michigan but it would not Happen, Villanova was making their shots and also getting a lot of stops on defense. Villanova would cruise to a 92-67 win to go 12-0 on the season while NJIT falls to 5-8 on the season.
