Villanova takes down Marquette 70-52

Philadelphia PA: The Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia is going to be a busy week for Villanova University with 2 big conference games starting with matchup with Marquette Golden Eagles on Wednesday February 4. Villanova comes into game with number 7 ranking & record of 19-2 (6-2 in Big East) following a win over DePaul on January 31 while Marquette comes into game with record of 10-11 (2-7 in Big East) and following a onetime loss to Butler also on January 31. The game was broadcasted on FOX Sports 1 with Joe Davis & Bill Raftery calling the action.
Villanova won the tip to start the game and the games first points came from Marquette Luke Fischer with 2 point layup, Villanova got on the board with basket from Darrun Hilliard. Both teams played sloppy in the 1st half, Villanova took its 1st lead of game on layup from Josh Hart. Marquette would keep it close but Villanova had answers to Marquette as they hit some big shots including the 3 pointers as Villanova leads 36-19 at Halftime.
Marquette got ball to begin the 2nd half and things would pickup where they were in the 1st half as both teams had some good shot opportunities but nothing was going in, Villanova would start making those shots including some big 3 pointers. Villanova grew the lead to 24 at 50-26 with 12:16 left in 2nd half, Marquette would try to make it a game but it would not happen as Villanova would coast to a 70-52 win over Marquette in front of a Crowd of 13,313 in attendance for this game. With the win, Villanova goes to 20-2 (7-2 in Big East) while Marquette goes to 10-12 (2-8 in Big East).
