Villanova takes down Georgetown Big East Quarterfinals

New York NY: The best time of the year is March Madness where teams find out if they make the NCAA Tournament and that is what took place on Thursday afternoon at Madison Square Garden as Villanova Wildcats host the Georgetown Hoyas in the Quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament. Villanova came into game with a record of (27-4 16-2 in Big East and off a win over Georgetown on March 5 while Georgetown enter game with a (14-17, 7-11 in Big East) and off a win over DePaul in the Big East 1st Round last night. Interesting stat that Villanova was 0-5 all time against Georgetown in the Big East Tournament.
Villanova won the tip to start the game and the games first points came from Georgetown Marcus Derrickson for early 2-0 lead, Villanova would get on the board with basket by Josh Hart. Both teams were playing very good defense and had some good scoring chances, This was a low scoring game as Hoyas would have a 27-25 lead and Wildcats Kris Jenkins hits 3 pointer as the buzzer sounds as Villanova took a 28-27 lead into halftime, this was one of those old school Big East games.
Georgetown got ball to start the 2nd half and score right away on basket by Bradley Hayes, Villanova got their 2nd half started on basket by Jalen Brunson.Villanova would have a 46-44 lead with 10:58 left and Georgetown would retake the lead on 3 pointer by LJ Peak for a 47-46 lead with 10:30 left. Villanova would wake up and take over lead by Ryan Arcidiacono and Josh Hart. Arcidiacono would have a series where he would hit several 3 pointer on the breakaway and Villanova would play some good defense. Josh Hart would hit 3 pointer to get the lead to 15 at 72-57 with 2:22 left and Villanova would cruise to an 81-67 win over Georgetown to make the Semifinals and play the Winner of Providence vs Butler on Friday night.
