Villanova Men’s Lacrosse takes down Providence on Senior Day

Villanova PA: It is always an emotional day for those Senior players that play their final home games as that what took place at Villanova Stadium on the Campus of Villanova University on Saturday Afternoon as the Villanova Wildcats Men’s Lacrosse  took on Providence . Villanova entered the game with a (8-4, 2-2 in Big East) and off a win over St john’s on April 23 while Providence comes into game against the Wildcats with a (7-7, 1-3 in Big East) off a loss to defending national champion Denver also on April 23.

Villanova won the draw to start the game and they would score the games first goal by Joey Froccaro for the early 1-0 lead, Providence would back fast with goal by Michael Perettine. The Wildcats would jump all over the Friars and would take a 5-2 lead at end of 1st quarter as Joey Froccaro would score 2 of the 5 goals in the quarter. Providence would make a run in the 2nd quarter to get the lead down to 2 on goals by Nolan Fillet & Austin Goltz, the Wildcats would take a 6-4 lead into halftime.

Villanova won draw to start the 3rd quarter and they would score by Devin McNamara for 7-4 lead. Providence would have no answer as the Wildcats kept the pressure on them the entire game, Wildcats Goals from Will Mazzone, Christian Cuccinello. Joey Froccaro would score the Hat Trick goal with 1:50 left in the 4th quarter as the Villanova Wildcats take down Providence 14-7 to end the regular season (9-4, 3-2 in Big East) while Providence falls to (7-8, 1-4 in Big East). With the win, the Wildcats are now the number 3 seed in the Big East Tournament on May 5-7 in Denver which will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network & FOX Sports 2.
