Villanova knocks out Marquette in Big East Tournamant

New York NY: The best time of the year for college basketball is March madness, it starts with the conference tournaments to see who will make the NCAA Tournament. The Big East Conference took center stage at Madison Square Garden on Thursday as Villanova enters the Big East as the number 1 seed & also ranked 4th in the nation while Marquette enter game as number 9 seed in the Big East Tournament.
Villanova won the tip to start the game & scored the games first points on a 3 pointer by Darrun Hilliard, Marquette gets on the board with basket from Derrick Wilson. Villanova would open up an lead of 10 at 18-8 then Marquette went on run and then they cut the lead down to two at 18-16 with 11:27 left in 1st half, Villanova would take full control of the game, Josh hart would score 11 straight points & the 3pt shooting took over as they took a 39-21 lead at halftime, Villanova would make 10-16 from 3 PT Range in the 1st half.
Marquette got ball to start the 2nd half and Villanova picked up where they left off in the 1st half especially from 3 PT range. Villanova got the lead to 23 when they made it 48-25 at 15:23 left. Marquette would attempt to get back into the game but the defense by Villanova was that good. Villanova held Marquette Matt Carlino scoreless in the 1st half he finally scored at 13:50 of 2nd half on a 3 pointer. Villanova would just take control of the rest of the way as Villanova would roll to a 35 point win by the score of 84-49. This was Villanova 1st win in the Big East Tournament since the 2013 2nd round against St John’s. Villanova will play the winner of Providence vs St John’s in the semifinals on Friday.
