Villanova knockout St John’s to end regular season

Philadelphia PA: As the calendar turned to March, that means the best time of the year for college basketball is March Madness gets ready to start as Villanova Wildcats played their final regular season game against the St John’s Red Storm at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday. Villanova enters game with a record of 28-2 (15-2 in Big East) while St John’s enters game with record of 21-9 (10-7 in Big East).
Villanova won the tip to start the game, St John’s scores the games first points from Phil Greene for 2 points, Villanova got on board when Dylan Ennis got fouled rom 3pt range, made all 3 foul shots. St John’s came out on fire and had a 16-5 lead at the 1st media timeout. St John’s is keeping the pressure on Villanova but Villanova is trying to keep this game close in the 1st half. Villanova would rally to tie game at 38 on 3 pointer by Josh Hart with 4:44 left in 1st half. Villanova took 1st lead on basket & foul by Pinkston for a 40-38 lead.
St John’s got ball to begin the 2nd half and things continued where they left off in the 1st half . St John’s would go on a run to cut the Villanova lead while Villanova answered back with a run of their own. Villanova would get the ball into Daniel Ochefu and he would take over. Villanova would open the lead to 20 with under 8 minutes left in 2nd half. Villanova would grown the lead up to 34 lead by the Daniel Ochefu who would go o a stretch of scoring 9 straight points. Villanova would knockout St Johns 105-68 to win the Big East regular season championship. With the win, Villanova will enter the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden as the number 1 seed while St John’s enter as the number 5 seed.
