Villanova Defeats James Madison 49-31

Villanova PA: On Saturday September 20 from Villanova Stadium on the Campus of Villanova University, Conference play in the Colonel Athletic Conference got on their way as Villanova Wildcats hosted James Madison, it was also Parents Weekend at Villanova University. Villanova comes into game with record of 1-1 and off a blowout win over Fordham and James Madison enter game with a records of 2-1 and off a win over St Francis. The game was broadcasted on Comcast SportsNet with Joe Beninatti, Andy Gresh calling the action, Locally on CBS Sports Radio 610 with Joe Eichhorn and Ryan Fannon.

James Madison Wins toss & they Defer to 2nd half, Villanova got ball to start the game, Villanova took the opening drive down the field for games 1st touchdown as John Robertson finds WR Mike Burke for 7-0 lead, that was Mike Burke 1st career touchdown. Villanova stops James Madison on the 1st drive of the game on 4th down. Villanova would take a 7-0 lead at the end of 1st quarter.  James Madison would get on the board in the 2nd quarter from WR Ishmael Hyman for 56 Yards, Villanova would retake the lead when RB Kevin Monangai runs it for 62 yard touchdown for a 14-7 lead, the run by Monangai was the longest of his career. James Madison would respond by scoring the next two touchdown by  Sean Tapley & Deane Cheathan for a 21-14 lead at Halftime.

James Madison got ball to start 2nd half and drove down the field and they kick 34 yard field goal to make it 24-14.  Villanova drives down to cut the lead to 3  when Robertson finds TE Earnest Pettway from 4 yards out., Villanova would take lead when Earnest Pettway scores his 2nd touchdown of game for a 28-24, then Villanova adds to the lead when Kevin Monangai makes it 35-24. Austin Medley add another touchdown for a 42-24 lead. James Madison adds a late touchdown by QB Vad Lee as Villanova still leads 42-31 lead. Garry Underwood adds another Touchdown for a 49-31 lead. Joe Sarnese would come up big with 2 interceptions  Villanova Holds on for a  49-31 win. Villanova now gets ready for battle against University of Penn next week at Franklin Field.
