Villanova Defeats #5 Georgetown 67-57

Philadelphia, PA – On Wednesday March 7 from the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia, the Villanova Wildcats took on the Georgetown Hoys in Big East Conference Play, this Was Villanova final regular season game before the Big East Tournement next week at Madison Square Garden. Villanova came into the game off a Overtime loss to Pittsburgh on March 3, Georgewtown came into the game on a 11 game Winning Streak and off a win over Rutgers on march 2. The game was broadcasted Nationally on ESPN2 with Mike Patrick & LaPhonso Ellis calling the action. Georgetown Started the game with the ball & Scored three pointer by Markel Starks, Villanova first points came from Mouphtaou Yarou for two points,Villanova took it’s first lead of game was at 10-9 on three pointer by James Bell. it was a very sloppy but intense game in the first half, Villanova would lead the entire first half, turning point of 1st half was when Mouphtaou Yarou would hit jump shot as the clock expired, but after the officals looked it over, the shot did not count. Villanova lead Number 5 Georgetown 33-29.

Georgetown began with the ball to start the second half, hoyas would try to tie or take the lead multiple times but could not, it was very intense in the second half especially there were alot of Borderline foul calls by the officals through the entire game, Villanova would increase their lead up to 10 & Villanova would hold on to a 67-57 win over number 5 Georgewtown infront of 13,685 at Wells Fargo Center. This was the third top 5 team that Villanova has defeated this season at the Wells Fargo Center, also with this win it helps Villanova chancs of receiving NCAA At Large Bid.
Georgetown Otto Porter Jr finished with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3-5 from foul line,
