Venezuela Takes down Uruguay in Copa America in Philadelphia

Philadelphia PA: The historic 2016 Copa America Centenario made their way to South Philadelphia for their position of the tournamanet on Thursday night as Uruguay took on Venezuela. The big story in this game was that Uruguay star  Luis Suarez was OUT with an injury.

The Lineups for both Uruguay & Venezuela

Uruguay lineup: Muslera; Pereira, Godin, Gimenez, Silva; Sanchez, Gonzalez, Rios, Ramirez; Cavani, Stuani.

Venezuela: Hernandez; Rosales, Vizcarrondo, Angel, Feltscher; Rincon, Figuera; Guerra, Martinez, Penaranda; Rondon

Uruguay started the game with the ball and early on, both teams were feeling each other out to see how the entire game would go, Venezuela Roberto Rosales would be down on the ground t times and needed medicial attention and would come out of the match in the 8th minute and was replaced by Alexander Gonzalez. Both teams would have good opportunities, the games first goal would come in the 36th minute as Venezuela would take a shot that would hit the post and Salomon Rondon would put home the rebound for the 1-0 lead and that would be the score at the Half

Venezuela started the 2nd half with the ball and Uruguay would start to put alot of pressure on Venezuela and both teams would begin to make their substitution and Uruguay Luis Suarez would start to warm up and the coaches never told him that he was not playing because of the injury. In the 88th minute Uruguay would have a golden scoring chance by Edinson Cavani and he would miss the net by inches that would have tied the game at 1

Venezuela would hold on for the upset win by the score of 1-0 in front of a crowd of 23,002 & with the win, they advance to the quarterfinals while Uruguay is eliminated.
