USA Takes down Paraguay in Copa America in Philadelphia

Philadelphia PA: One of the biggest matches in the Jurgen Klinsmann era as USA Soccer coach took place at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia on Saturday night as USA took on Paraguay to close out group play in Copa America. With a win by the USA they would advance to the quarterfinals but with a loss they would be eliminated. The USA entered the match off a 4-0 win over Costa Rica

Paraguay: Villar; Balbuena, Gomez, Da Silva, Samudio; Gonzalez, Ortiz, Ayala, Almiron; Sanabria, Lezcano
USA started the game with the ball and both teams would have some good scoring chances and the USA would open the scoring in the 28th minute as Clint Dempsey would put home a nice pass from Gyasi Zardes for the 1-0 lead.

USA would take a 1-0 lead into halftime and the raucous crowd at Lincoln Financial Field was enjoying what they saw in the first half.
Paraguary would start the 2nd half and things would start to get very physical as both teams would start to make stupid mistakes and the series of yellow cards would come out and in the 48th minute USA DeAndre Yedlin would get tossed from the game with a red card. Paraguay would try to make things interesting in the 2nd half as they would try to tie the game but USA Goalie Brad Guzan would be up for the test and he would make some big saves in the 82nd minute

USA would hold on for the 1-0 win in front of a crowd of 51,041 saw an amazing soccer game, with the win, USA would advance to the Quarterfinals for the first time since 1995.
