Uconn Women’s Basketball Beats Up Owls

Philadelphia PA: It is always a big deal when you get the chance to play the number 1 team in Men’s or Women’s college basketball & that is what took place at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University on Wednesday night as the Number 1 ranked Uconn Huskies took on Temple Owls. Temple comes into game with (16-4,6-1 in American) and off a loss to South Florida on January 29 while Uconn enter battle against Owls with (20-0,8-0 in American) and off a win over Houston on January 28.
Temple won tip to star the game and they would score the games first points on Basket by Ruth Sherrill for the early 2-0 lead, Uconn would get on the board with basket by Napheesa Collier to tie game at 2. Uconn would take over the rest of the way and just make things very difficult for the Owls as Huskies took a 25-8 lead at the end of 1st Quarter. The Owls would try to get back into the game but the Huskies just made it more difficult as they would take a 52-18 lead into halftime.
Uconn got ball to start the 2nd half and they would continue to make things challenging for the Owls. The owls would show Uconn that they still had fight and they would take it to them with a 29 point quarter and cut the lead down to 27 at 74-47. Temple would add 22 points in the 4th quarter and the Owls would be the 6th team to score more than 50 points against Uconn, Joining (Florida State, Notre Dame, Baylor, Dayton, Maryland). A Crowd of 4,371 saw the Huskies take down the Owls 97-69 and with the win, the Huskies would extend their winning streak to 96 games & 35 wins on the road which is a NCAA Record. Uconn goes to (21-0, 9-0 in American) and look to battle against Tulsa on February 5 while the Owls fall to (16-5, 6-2 in American) and look to rebound against Tulane also on February 5.
