Temple wins nailbitter against Penn at Palestra

Philadelphia PA: Big 5 basketball took center stage on Wednesday night at the Cathedral of College Basketball, the Palestra on the campus of University of Pennsylvania as the Penn Quakers hosted the Temple Owls. Penn comes into this big 5 game with a record of 4-4 and off a loss to George Mason on December 5 while Temple enters game against Penn with a 3-4 record and coming off a bad loss to Wisconsin on also on December 5.
Penn won the tip to start the game, Temple would open the scoring by hitting a 3 pointer by Devin Coleman for the early 3-0 lead, Penn would score their first basket of the game which was a 3 pointer by Antonio Woods to tie the game at 3. the Quakers would take a 8-3 lead with 16:59 left in 1st half, Temple would go on a run to take a 21-13 with 9:08 left in the half, this was one of those typical physical Big 5 games at the Palestra and the crowd was in it from both sides including Temple & Penn Students with roll outs and taking shots at each other, Example of one of the roll outs from Penn “New Years 6, Houston we have a Problem” & one from Temple to Penn was “LAST TIME YOU BEAT ‘][‘ YOUR FRESHMEN WERE IN 4TH GRADE” Temple would take a 38-30 lead at Halftime
Temple got ball to start the 2nd half and they would increase the lead, Both teams would have some runs in this game, Temple would have a 12 point lead at 68-56 with 3:35 left and Penn would make the game interesting by hitting some big run on their run to cut the Temple lead, Temple Josh Brown would hit 4 big foul shots for the win as Temple would take down Penn by the score of 77-73 in front of a crowd of 4,378. Temple will now get ready for another Big 5 game as they host Saint Joseph’s on Sunday while Penn next game wont be until December 19.
