Temple Takes down LaSalle in Big 5 Doubleheader

Philadelphia PA: There are some events that are mean to happen every year and this was a long time coming as the Philadelphia Big 5 which is (Temple, Penn, LaSalle, Villanova & Saint Joseph’s) would host a doubleheader for the first time involving the Big 5 teams since December 2004 and this would take place at “The Cathedral of College Basketball” the Palestra on the campus of University of Pennsylvania. The first game was Temple Owls took on LaSalle Explores. Temple entered the game with record of 9-7 and off a double OT win over Cincinnati on January 16 while LaSalle comes into game with a 5-10 record and off a loss to Rhode Island also on January 16.
LaSalle would win the tip to start the game and Temple would open the scoring by Jaylen Bond, then LaSalle would get on the board by Cleon Roberts to tie the game at 2. Explorers would get the lead down to 3 at 12-9 with 14:26 left after 2 foul shots by Jordan Price. The Owls would take full control from there as they would grown the lead to 15 at 31-16 with 4:51 left, LaSalle would cut into the lead and get ti down to 8 as the temple would take a 33-25 lead at halftime. Trey Lower would lead the Owls with 8 first half points while Cleon Roberts would lead Explorers with 11 first half points.
Temple gets ball to start the 2nd half and LaSalle would go on a 7-0 run to cut the Temple lead down to 1 at 33-23 at 17:44 left in the 2nd half. Temple would take over and would lead the rest of the game as the Owls would get lead as high as 15 points as the Owls would hold on for a 62-49 win to go 10-7 on the season and with the loss LaSalle falls to 5-11 on the season
