Temple Magical Season Ends in Loss at Boca Raton Bowl

Boca Raton FLA: This has been one of the most exciting seasons for Temple University Football as they took on Toledo in the 2015 Marmot Boca Raton Bowl from FAU Stadium on the Campus of Florida Atlantic University. Temple enters the game ranked 24th in the ration and with a record of 10-3 and off a loss to Houston in the American Athletic Conference Championship game on December 5 while Toledo comes into game with a 9-2 and off a win over Western Michigan in the Mid Atlantic Conference Championship game on November 27.
Temple won the toss & deferred to the 2nd half, Toledo will start the game with the ball. Both teams would struggle to move the ball on their first drive of the game. Temple would have some success on their 2nd drive which would lead to a Austin Jones 29 yard field goal for the early 3-0 lead. Things would just go wrong for the Owls in the 2nd quarter as RB Jahad Thomas could not handle the snap and the ball would bounce into the end zone and would result in a Safety for the Rockets as they would take the 3-2 lead, then the Rockets would take the free kick and make the owls pay as it lead to a Corey Jones 26 yard touchdown as 5 temple players could not bring him down as the Rockets lead 9-3. The Rain would come very hard multiple times in the game. Late in the first half, Temple RB Jahad Thomas would get injured and he would not return as it was his knee, Toledo would add a 38 yard field goal for a 12-3 lead to end the first half. Toledo would take a 12-3 lead into halftime.
Temple got ball to start the 2nd half and they would make things very interesting in the 3rd quarter as they would score two straight drives that would end up with field goals to cut the Rockets lead to 12-9 as the defense would wake up and get pressure on Toledo QB Phillip Ely, Through 3 quarters Toledo would lead 12-9, the crowd in the stadium were in this game from the start, both fan bases were also into it. The 4th quarter was a different story as Toledo would find an answer to the Owls defense as QB Phillip Ely finds Cody Thompson for a 80 yard touchdown as the Rockets lead 19-9, Rockets would add another touchdown after they picked off PJ Walker, this touchdown was by RB Kareem Hunt from 1 yard out for a 25-9 lead with 5:46 left. The owls would finally find the end zone as Kip Patton ran it in from 2 yards out, Robby Anderson caught the 2 point conversion as Temple would be down 25-17. Temple would attempt an onside kick and at first temple had recovered it then the referee would say Toledo ball but it clearly sees that Temple had the ball & Rockets would score the back breaking touchdown by Kareem Hunt from 41 yards as Toledo would win the Boca Raton Bowl 25-17 in front of a crowd of 25,908. Temple would finish this historic season 10-4 while Toledo would finish the season 10-2.

RB Ryquell Armstead: 8 rush attempts for 27 yards
WR Robby Anderson: 6 catches for 66 yards
QB Phillip Ely: 20-28 for 285 yards with 2 passing touchdowns
RB Kareem Hunt: 15 rush attempts for 79 yards with 2 rush touchdowns, 3 catches for 6 yards
WR Cody Thompson: 4 catches for 119 yards with 1 touchdown.
