Temple lays Smackdown to 49ers on Homecoming

Philadelphia PA: It is always exciting to see alumni return to camps and that is what we had on Saturday from Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia as the Temple Owls took on the Charlotte 49ers in their homecoming game. The Owls enter the game with a 1-2 record and coming off loss to Penn State while Charlotte comes into game with Temple also with a 1-2 record and off a loss to Eastern Michigan.
Charlotte won the toss & deferred to 2nd half, The Temple Owls would start the game with the ball and would drive down and score the games first points as they would hit a 36 yard field goal for 3-0 lead , Charlotte would take their first drive of the game and drive down for touchdown by Kofa Workpeh from 8 yards out for 7-3 lead. Late in the 1st quarter, Temple QB Phillip Walker would get hurt and 2nd string QB Logan Marchi would come in to finish the 1st quarter as Charlotte would lead 7-3. The Turing point in the game would happen in the 2nd quarter as the Owls would score 28 points on touchdowns from Adonis Jennings from 51 yards, Jahad Thomas from 13 yards, Brodick Yancy from 40 yards & Ryquell Armstead from 1 yard as the Owls would take a 31-7 lead into halftime.
Charlotte got ball to start the 2nd half and they would drive down the field and they would score touchdown by RB Kalif Phillips from 66 yards out to get back into the game at 31-14. The Owls would keep making things difficult for the 49ers to get back into the game as the Owls would add additional touchdowns from Jahad Thomas, 2nd of game, Ryquell Armstead would add his 2nd of game & Austin Jones would hit a 31 yard field goal to make it 48-14. The 49ers would score touchdown which would not be enough. A crowd of 27,786 saw Temple take down Charlotte 48-20 on homecoming to get record at 2-2 on the season and with the loss, the 49ers also fall to 2-2 on the season. The Owls open up conference play as they take on SMU while Charlotte takes on Old Dominion to open C-USA play.

RB Jahad Thomas: 15 rush attemps for 70 yards with 2 rush Touchdowns, 3 catches for 49 yards
WR Brodick Yancy: 4 catches for 70 yards and 1 touchdown
QB Kevin Olsen: 17-42 for 198 yards, 1 Pass Touchdown
RB Kalif Phillips: 16 rush attempts for 118 yards with 1 rush Touchdown
WR T.L. Ford II: 5 catches for 92 yards
