Temple Falls to Notre Dame 24-20

Philadelphia PA: The entire college football world came to Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia for one of the biggest games to take place in Philadelphia as Temple Owls took on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Before the game ESPN College Gameday brought its show to Independence Mall, The Phillie Phantic was the celebrity guest picker on the show & analyst Lee Corso selected Notre Dame. Temple comes into game with undefeated record of 7-0 and a number 21 ranking and coming off a win over East Carolina while Notre Dame comes in number 9 in the nation and with a 6-1 record and off a bye week, before the bye week, the defeated USC on October 17. Notre Dame won the toss and elected to receive and they would score touchdown from 4 yds out by QB DeShone Kizer, Scoring Drive was 12 Plays from 74 yards in 6 Minutes, Temple would get on the board with a 41 yard field goal by Austin Jones to cut the Notre Dame lead to 7-3. The defense by both teams has been very good. Temple would pick off Notre Dame pass from QB Kizer by Praise Martin Oquike, Temple would take advantage as they would score touchdown as QB PJ Walker finds WR Brandon Shippen from 12 yards out to give the Owls their first lead of game. Notre Dame would answer right back as QB DeShone Kizer would break off a 79 yard touchdown run to give Notre Dame an 14-10 lead, Notre Dame was looking to add more points to end the first half but QB DeShone Kizer has his pass tipped and picked off by Temple LB Tyler Matakevich to end the first half as Notre Dame would lead 14-10, a very good tight defensive football game.
Temple got ball to start the 2nd half and both teams would struggle in the 3rd quarter as the only points in the quarter came from a 23 yard field goal by Notre Dame kicker Justin Yoon to give Notre Dame a 17-10 lead. There was NFL scouts from Eagles, Dolphins, Titans, Chargers, Packers, Cardinals, Giant & Patriots that were in attendance for the Temple vs Notre Dame. Notre Dame Elijah Shumate would get tossed from the game for leading as he would hit Temple player in the end zone. Temple would convert two 4th downs on drive and it would lead them to tie the game at 17 on a 1 yard touchdown run by Jahad Thomas on 4th & goal from the 1 yard line. Temple would retake the lead on 36 yard field goal by Austin Jones to give the Owls a 20-17 lead with 4:45 left in the game. Notre Dame would answer with a good time consuming drive which leads to a Notre Dame Touchdown as QB DeShone Kizer finds WR Will Fuller from 17 yards out for a 24-20 Notre Dame lead with 2:20 left in the game. Temple would have 1 more chance nut Temple QB PJ Walker would have his pass picked off and that iced the game as Notre Dame wins 24-20 in front of a record crowd of 69,280 largest crowd to watch a Temple game at Lincoln Financial Field. Temple would fall to 7-1 on the season and Notre Dame with the win goes to 7-1 on the season.
