Temple Defeat East Carolina, Wins East Division

Philadelphia PA: It is always emotional time when your senior players play their final home game and their is alot on the line and that is what we had on Saturday night as the Temple Owls took on the East Carolina Pirates from Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia. The Temple owls enter the game with a (8-3, 6-1 in AAC) record and off a win over Tulane while East Carolina come into game against Owls with (3-8,1-6 in AAC) and off a loss to Navy. With a win, the Temple Owls would clinch the American Athletic Conference East Division Championship for the 2nd year in row.
Temple won toss & deferred to 2nd half, East Carolina would start the game with the ball and they would drive down and score the game first points as QB Gardner Minshew found WR Jimmy Williams from 13 yards out for early 7-0 lead. Temple would answer back on their first drive of game which resulted in RB Ryquell Armstead scoring from 2 yards out to tie game at 7. Temple would take the lead with 8 minutes left in 2nd quarter as Armstead would score his 2nd touchdown of game for 14-7 lead. East Carolina would fumble the ball on their next drive which Owls recovered and made them pay as Owls other RB Jahad Thomas would run it in to make it 21-7 and that would be the score going into halftime.
Temple got ball to start the 2nd half and the the defense on both sides would take over. The Owls would increase their lead when Jahad Thomas would run in his 2nd of game to make it 27-7, East Carolina would try to keep the game close when they connect on 35 yard field goal to cut the Owls lead to 27-10. The owls would ice the game as Jager Gardner would score from 14 yards out to make it 37-10. A crowd of 28,373 saw the Temple Owls take down East Carolina 37-10 to win the East Division championship for the 2nd year in row. With the Win the Owls go 9-3, 7-1 in AAC, with the loss East Carolina ends their season at 3-9, 1-7 in AAC.
Temple Now heads to Annapolis MD to take on Navy in the American Athletic Conference Championship Game on Saturday December 3 at Noon on ABC.
