Philadelphia PA: There are times during the season that teams suffer losses at home that hurts and they have to find a way to get back and show to the fans that they know how to win at home as the Philadelphia Soul took on the Portland Steel at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon. The Soul come into game with 1-1 record and off a ugly loss to Jacksonville on April 11 while Portland enters game with 0-2 record and off a loss to Orlando on April 9.
Portland won the toss and deferred to 2nd half as the Soul would start the game with the ball and they would score right away as QB Dan Raudabaugh finds WR Ryan McDaniel for the games first points on 21 yard touchdown pass for 7-0 lead and this would begin thei dominance by the Soul on Portland in the first half. Soul be up 14-0 before the Steel got on the board when QB Dann Southwick finds WR Jared Perry for the touchdown as the Soul lead 14-6 at end of 1st quarter. The Soul would make this game out of reach in the 2nd quarter as they would put up 28 straight points as they would take an 42-6 lead into halftime.
Portland got ball to start the 2nd half and they would score a touchdown as QB Dann Southwick connects with WR Tom Gilson to cut into the lead but the deficit was too much for the Steel to make any comeback as they had no answer for the Soul offensive attack and the way the defense came out and not make many mistakes. Both teams would exchange scores as the Philadelphia Soul would defeat Portland 70-32 for their first home win of the season to go 2-1 on the season while Portland falls to 0-3 on the season. The Philadelphia Soul now prepare for a rematch with Cleveland who they took down in Week 1 while Portland looks for their first win on April 30 as they head into Bye Week.
