Sixers in Desperate Need of a Big Man
- Updated: March 1, 2012
PHILADELPHIA — If the 76ers are going to make a significant move before the March 15 deadline, it almost certainly would involve getting a veteran big man to bring some depth and security in the low post.
The problem with that need is that there are a lot of teams with the same issue.
Elton Brand, who has been dealing with a nagging thumb injury that has complicated the frontcourt situation for the Sixers, realizes the more center Spencer Hawes watches games in a suit with a sore Achilles’ heel, the more likely a trade occurs.
A day after Collins missed the fourth quarter of Tuesday night’s win over the Pistons with dizziness, he declared himself back to normal.
“I feel great. (Tuesday) I took a long walk with (assistant coach) Michael Curry, got a massage and think I got really dehydrated,” Collins said. “I didn’t sleep a lot over the break thinking about how to get our team on track.”
Collins took in some fluids and got extra rest Wednesday morning, leaving some of the pregame prep work for Oklahoma City to the assistants.
