Shannon Eastin First Woman to officiate NFL game
- Updated: August 6, 2012
In a few days it will become reality! A WOMEN will be officiating an NFL Game. On Thursday, August 9, 2012, Shannon Eastin will make history as she becomes the first on-field female referee. Eastin will work Thurday night’s preseason contest between the Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers. Eastin previously worked Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference games, and in 2009 was the first woman to officiate a Florida A&M game.
Eastin is completely qualified for the job and should handle her responsibilities quite well. Hopefully she will open doors to the many other hopefuls.
For the first time, a woman will be on an NFL officiating crew. Shannon Eastin will work Thursday’s Green Bay at San Diego game.
