Seton Hall takes down Villanova for Big East Title

New York NY: The 2 best teams in the Big East Conference went to battle on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City for the right to be named Big East Tournament champions and also help their place with the NCAA Selection Committee for the NCAA Tournament as the Villanova Wildcats took on Seton Hall Pirates. Villanova came into the championship encounter with a very tight win over the Providence in the semifinals while Seton Hall took down Xavier in the other semifinal. Villanova Daniel Ochefu did not start as he was continue to deal with his ankle injury.
Villanova won the tip to start the game and scored the games first points by Kris Jenkins for early 2-0 lead, Seton Hall first 6 points of game came from 3 pointers and Villanova would keep the game close early on. The Pirates brought the fight to the Wildcats and they would grow the lead to 14 points at 39-25 with 3 minutes left, Seton Hall would take a 40-29 lead into halftime.
Seton Hall got ball to start the 2nd half and they would increase the lead to 48-38 with 14:18 left in 2nd half,The Wildcats would wake up and go on a huge run and they would come all the way back and Tie the game at 50 on three pointer by Kris Jenkins with 9:21 left and the Sold out Crowd at Madison Square Garden went insane. Both teams would continue throw some big shots and it was very intense atmosphere as it came down the finish. Villanova would retake the lead on a big three pointer by Kris Jenkins to make it 67-65 with 42 seconds left. The Pirates would come back and break the Wildcats hearts when Isaiah Whitehead made an insane basket 7 foul with 18 seconds left for a 68-76 lead, they Wildcats would have a chance for the win but they would come up short as Seton Hall would take down Villanova 69-67 to win the Big East Championship. Now both teams wait to see where they end up int he NCAA Tournament Selection show tomorrow at 5:30 PM on CBS
