Saint Joseph’s Rebounds to defeat vs Rhode Island

Philadelphia PA: At times during the season where teams have those games that they should win and don’t win and must know to stay competitive in the league to make the NCAA tournament as the Saint Joseph’s Hawks took on the Rhode Island Rams on Sunday afternoon at Hagan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph’s University. The Hawks come into game with record of 11-3; 1-1 in Atlantic 10 and coming off a ugly loss to VCU on January 5 while Rhode Island enters game with record of 10-5; 2-0 in Atlantic 10 off of a win over Richmond also on January 5.
The games first points came from the hawks DeAndre Bembry for 2-0 lead, Rams got on the board with basket by Jared Terrell for 2 points. both teams would go on runs, Rams would lead this game by 3 at 22-19 with 10:48 left in the half. This game would be tied 9 times in the first half as it would be 38-38 at halftime.
The Hawks would open the 2nd half by going on a 8-0 run which featured two three pointers by DeAndre Bembry which game them a 46-40 lead with 16:58 left. Rhode Island would go on a 10-0 run to take the lead at 53-52 with 7:18 left, Hawks would answer back with basket & foul by James Demery. The Rams would make this game very interesting as they would not go away and would get lead down to 5 at 69-64 with 54 seconds left. The Hawks would hold on for a 72-67 win as the Hawks would go to (12-3; 2-1 in A-10) on the season while Rams would go (10-6; 2-1 in A-10).
