Saint Joseph’s defeats Vermont 68-60

Philadelphia PA: On Saturday November 22 from Hagan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph’s University, the Saint Joseph’s Hawks hosted Vermont Catamounts. The Hawks come into game off a very bad loss to Gonzaga, on the other hand Vermont enters game with a win over Southern Vermont.

Saint Joseph’s  won the tip to begin the game, Vermont would strike first when Ethan O’Day throws down a big dunk to start the game. The Hawks would answer back at the foul line when Javon Baumann makes 1/2 from the line, Vermont would break out to a 11-1 lead, The Hawks would make some adjustments. Hawks DeAndre Bembry would have a monster dunk that awaken the crowd at Hagan arena to cut the lead to 16-13 at 10:13 in 1st half. Hawks would take their 1st led of the game when Chris Wilson makes layup to give Hawks a17-16 lead with 9:28 left in 1st half, Vermont would keep the game close, Hawks would take a 32-26 lead into halftime.

Saint Joseph’s  got ball to begin 2nd half and Hawks hit 3 pointer by Bembry to increase lead to 35-26. Hawks would also increase the lead to  14 46-32 with 13:30 left in 2nd half. Vermont would cut the Hawks lead to 6 at 62-56 with 2:46 left, There was at times some questionable calls by the referee in this game going against both teams. The Hawks would rebound in a big way after that ugly loss by defeating Vermont 68-60.
