Phils Hammered in Season Finale
- Updated: September 29, 2013
The Phillies ended 2013 with a thud, losing to the Atlanta Braves 12-5.
Starter Zach Miner lasted only 2 1/3 innings, allowing five runs and seven hits. The Phils used a total of six pitchers today, four of whom allowed at least two runs.
The Philly offense went 3-7 with runners in scoring position, but did benefit from a three run home run by catcher Erik Kratz. The Braves finished with 17 hits against Phillies’ pitching.
The first order of business this off-season will be Ryne Sandberg’s coaching staff and who stays, who goes. Keep an eye open for the return of Larry Bowa, who could join the staff in some capacity.
The Phillies finish 2013 at 73-89, their worst record since the year 2000.
