Phillies Continue to Struggle against the Nats
- Updated: September 28, 2012
Through their struggle-filled first half, the Phillies inexplicably and uncharacteristically faltered in the friendly confines of Citizens Bank Park. Still, after their recent surge that briefly propelled them back into the postseason conversation, they entered Thursday night’s series finale with a chance to finish with an above .500 record at home.
But the playoff-bound Nationals defeated them with help from the long ball for the second consecutive night, as the Phillies lost, 7-3, to finish the year 40-41 at home, snapping a streak of 11 consecutive seasons with a winning home record.
