Hamels, Ruiz, and Papelbon in as All-Stars

After weeks and weeks of countless voting, Carlos Ruiz finally got the respect he deserved and will be playing in the 2012 Mid-Summer Classic in Kansas City, alongside teammates Cole Hamels and Jonathan Papelbon. For Ruiz, he will be representing the National League for the first time in his seven year career. Hamels will return to the All-Star game for the second year in a row, third time overall. Papelbon is back for a fifth time in his career, first with Philadelphia.

If Carlos Ruiz did not make the All-Star game, many fans would have been shocked. Chooch entered Sundays game vs the Miami Marlins leading both American and National Leagues in hitting batting .358. He is also ranked third in on-base percentage (.423) eighth in slugging percentage  (.585) and fourth in OPS (1.008). Ruiz is one of the few bright spots for the Phillies this season.
