Philadelphia Basketball Final Farewell to Dr. Jack Ramsay

Philadelphia: The entire Philadelphia basketball community came to Hagan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph’s University on Wednesday night to say their final farewell to Dr. Jack Ramsay who passed away  at age 89 after a decade-long battle with cancer back on April 28.  Of those who were in attendance was basketball icon Sonny Hill, former 76ers coach Jim O’Brien, Comcast Sports Net 76ers analyst Jim Lynam,  Media personality Tony Burno, Saint Joseph’s Men’s Coach Phil Martelli, Women’s Coach Cindy Griffin, Temple Coach Fran Dunphy, broadcasting legend Bill Campbell, some former players, Philadelphia Daily News Stan Hochman, Member of 1985 Villanova team Chris Ford & Philadelphia University Coach Herb Magee.

Dr. Jack Ramsay son Chris Ramsey gave the eulogy and there were some things that caught my attention, one of them was that “Coach Ramsey teams won every year, he was the Johnny Appleseed of Basketball” latter on he would mention the multiple things that people have said about him and how he make the game as popular today. Latter on in the memorial mass, Rev C Kevin Gillespie, SJ would give the Homily and he said the following “Hagan Arena is a perfect place to honor the memory of Dr. Jack Ramsay he was a coach who won 234 games at Saint Joseph’s”

there was about 400 people who attended the memorial at Hagan Arena, Below are some interviews that I did with Temple Men’s Basketball Coach Fran Dunphy,  Comcast Sports Net 76ers analyst Jim Lynam, basketball icon Sonny Hill, Saint Joseph’s Athletic Director Don DiJulia & Saint Joseph’s Men’s Basketball Coach Phil Martelli all talking about Dr. Jack Ramsay
