Phantoms Lose Final game in Glens Falls

Glens Falls, NY On Friday April 18 from the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls NY, The Adirondack Phantoms played their last ever game in Glens Falls ending their 5 year run as they hosted the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Phantoms played their 1st game in Glens Falls on October 3, 2009. This game also marked the Pro debut of Shayne Gostisbehere who 7 days ago won the NCAA Championship with Union College at the Wells Fargo Center. Tony Capobianco got the start for the Phantoms going against Kevin Poulin. The Union College Hockey team was in attendance to see their former team mate Shayne Gostisbehere pro debut.
The Phantoms came out with a lot of jump and not even 1:50 into the 1st period we had the games first fight as Oliver Lauridsen took on Joe Diamond. the Phantoms would open the scoring as Brandon Alderson would score for the early 1-0 lead. Shayne Gostisbehere put on a couple good moves and had a couple of good chances but missed the net. The Phantoms had everything going for them in this game and they would take a 1-0 lead into intermission. When the Phantoms were on the power play & Shayne Gostisbehere unleashed his very powerful slap shot when got on goal and Kevin Poulin made the save. Derek Whitmore would score on the power play to make it 2-0 Phantoms in the 2nd period. Goalie Tony Capobianco would make an amazing save on Josh Holmstrom the brother of Phantoms Ben Holmstrom. The Sound Tigers would make a comeback in the 3rd period as Scooter Vaughan scores shorthanded to cut the lead to 2-1 with 12 minutes left in the 3rd, then Mike Halmo ties the game at 2 on the power play. The game would go into overtime and the Sound Tigers would ruin the Final game at Glens Falls for the Phantoms as
Johan Sundstrom scores the game winner in overtime for the Sound Tigers to get the 3-2 win. it was announced that 5,586 was the largest Crowd ever in Adirondack Phantoms & Glens Falls Civic Center history to watch the Phantoms play breaking the Old record of 5,411 fans for the Phantoms 1st game ever in Glens Falls on October 3, 2009. Shayne Gostisbehere in his pro debut finished with 3 shots on goal. The Phantoms will wrap up their season Saturday night in Hershey. Tony Capobianco made 29 saves on 32 shots while Kevin Poulin made 24 saves on 26 shots.
