Penn Women’s Basketball beats Yale 62-50

Philadelphia PA: On Friday February 14 from the Cathedral of College Basketball The Palestra on the campus of University of Penn, Women’s basketball took center stage on Valentines Day as Penn Quakers hosted the Yale Bulldogs in Ivy League Action. Penn comes into game with record of 14-5 (4-1 in Ivy League) with a win over Columbia on February 8,while Yale comes in with record of 10-10 (4-2 in Ivy League) and off a loss to Harvard also on February 8.
Penn won the opening tip to start the game and scored the games first points from Kara Bonenberger for 2 point jump shot, Yale gets on the board with a jump shot from Zenab Keita to tie the game at 2. Penn would take control of the game early on and would get the lead up to 7 points, Penn Alyssa Baron was in foul trouble early on and there was some questionable foul calls in the 1st half, Yale would take its 1st lead of game with 3:16 left in 1st on a 3 pointer by Janna Graf. Penn would storm back to take a 32-29 lead into halftime
Yale would start the 2nd half with the ball and score basket from Lena Munzer, Penn would grow the lead through the 2nd half and at points it would reach 13-14 points. Penn Renee Bush would come off the bench and hit 2 big 3 pointers and Sydney Stipanovich would come up with 2 huge basket & fouls halfway through the 2nd half. Penn would hold on for a 62-50 win.

Kara Bonenberger: 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 4-6 from foul line
Sydney Stipanovich: 15 points, 9 rebounds, 8 blocks, 3-4 from foul line
Sarah Halejian: 11 points, 4 assists, 2-2 from foul line, 1-3 from 3 pt range
Janna Graf: 8 points, 6 rebounds, 1-5 from 3 pt range, 1-1 from foul line
