Penn State defeats UCF in Croke Park Classic

Dublin Ireland: On Saturday August 30 from Dublin Ireland the start of the College Football season began as Penn State took on University of Central Florida in the Croke Park Classic. This game marked the debut of new Penn State head coach James Franklin. The game was broadcasted on ESPN2 with Mike Patrick, Ed Cunningham and Jeannine Edwards, locally on 93.7 FM & 1450 AM with Steve Jones Jack Ham & Loren Crispell
Penn State won toss and deferred to 2nd half, UCF went 3 and out on their drive to start the game, Penn State opening drive would get stopee until a roughing the kicker penalty kept the drive going, Penn State would score the games 1st points as Zach Zwinak runs it in for 1 yard touchdown for the early 7-0 lead. UCF would get on the board in the 2nd quarter when Shawn Moffitt maes a 36 yard field goal to cut the lead to 7-3. Penn State Kicker Sam Ficken would add a 22 yard field goal to make the lead 10-3 going into halftime
Penn State got ball to start 2nd half, Sam Ficken would add another field goal to make it 13-3 in 3rd quarter. UCF would make a QB change to Justin Holman and he would lead UCF into the endzone with a QB sneak to cut the lead to 13-10, Penn State responds as Christian Hackenberg finds Geno lewis for 79 Yard Touchdown to make it 20-10 game. UCF would come back with a Touchdown in the 4th quarter as Justin Holman finds Josh Reese for 10 yard touchdown to get the lead down to 3 at 20-17.
both UCF and Penn State would turn ball over and Penn State would take a good drive that took a good amount off the clock and Penn State Kicked Field Goal to make it 23-17 with 3:30 left in 4th quarter. Justin Holman scores touchdown and gives UCF a 24-23 lead with 1:30 left, Penn State drives down and Sam Ficken kicks game winning field goal as the clock expires as Penn State wins 26-24.
