Penn beats Howard WBI 1st Round

Philadelphia, PA  -On Thursday  March 21st from the Cathedral of College Basketball the Palestra, The Penn Quakers took on the Howard Bison in the 1st round of Women’s Basketball Invitational. Penn came into the game off a loss to Princeton on March 12. Howard came into the game off a loss to Hampton on March 16. Penn Starts the game with the ball & the first points of ame came from Howard Kara Smith for two points, Penn first points of game came from Kathleen Roche making 1/2 from foul line. it was a very tight first half, the turning point of the first half when Penn Kathleen Roche hits three pointer as the first half clock expires. Penn took a 36-28 lead into halftime

leading scorer for Penn in first half was Brianna Bradford with 9 points, leading scorer for Howard in first half was Kara Smith with 11 points

Penn Starts with the ball to begin the second half, Penn would take control of the entore second half , Penn Brianna Bradford, Alyssa Baron & Kara Bonenberger would take over in the second half. Penn would hold on for a 65-60 win. With the win, it was Penn Quakers Women’s basketball first ever postseason win in School history. Penn will play Fairfield in the 2nd round of Women’s Basketball Invitational on March 23 at 7PM  at Palestra

Howard: Kara Smith  finished with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4-7 from 3PT range

Penn: Brianna Bradford finished with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 5-8 from 3PT range, Alyssa Baron & Kara Bonenberger each finished with 10 Points & going 4-4 from foul line
