Notre Dame Defeats Villanova for Coach McGraw’s 700th Win

On Tuesday February 5th from The Pavilion on the campus of Villanova University, it was a women’s basketball Big East Conference clash betweet the Villanova Wildcats who took on the number two ranked team in the nation in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Villanova came into this game off an loss to Rutgers on February 2nd, while Notre Dame came into the game off a win over Cincinnati. The game was broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network. Villanova Started the game with the ball. The first
points of the game came from Notre Dame’s Jewell Loyd for points. Villanova’s first points of the game came from Taylor Holeman which came off a basket and a foul. It was a very tight first half, and at the half Notre Dame lead 29-21 over Villanova. Notre Dame started with the ball to begin the second half and notre dame kept the pressure on. Villanova was making a strong comeback, with Devon Kane hitting a big three pointer to cut the lead down to two, then notre dame answered back with four straight points. Notre Dame held on to a 59-52 win over Villanova. With the win over Nova, Notre Dame Head Coach Muffet McGraw picked up career win number 700.
