May 18 (The Sports Xchange) – The Philadelphia Flyers hired college veteran Dave Hakstol, who has no NHL playing or coaching experience, as the 19th head coach in team history. Hakstol, 46, had been the coach at the University of North Dakota for the previous 11 seasons. Hakstol replaces Craig Berube, who was fired April 17 after the Flyers missed the Stanley Cup playoffs. In two seasons, Berube went 75-58-28. Hakstol compiled an overall record of 289-143-43 at North Dakota with a .654 winning percentage in 475 games.
