NHL Cancels Remainder of Pre-Season Games

The NHL Announced today the cancellation of the remainder of the 2012 pre-season schedule. The NHL sent out a press release noting the following on the none all to surprising move, “The cancellation was necessary because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players Association and the NHL.” The last CBA expired on September 15th, resulting in a lockout that continues to this day. The NHL & NHLPA are scheduled to resume talks this week. The NHL regular season was supposed to start on October 11th.
With the preseason lost, the Flyers have lost an additional four games — one at home against New Jersey (Oct. 1), one against the Maple Leafs in Toronto (Oct. 2), One in New Jersey (Oct. 5), and a final scheduled game in Chicago against the Blackhawks (Oct. 6).
