Neumann-Goretti Destroys Archbishop Carroll in Catholic League Semis
- Updated: February 21, 2013
The Saints were in the hunt for a fifth consecutive Catholic League championship. With a 17-point loss behind them to Chester, the Saints, as they showed in Wednesday night’s Catholic League semifinal vs. Archbishop Carroll, are ultra-focused on claiming the trophy.
Archbishop Carroll continued to chase history here, making its fifth consecutive trip to the Catholic League boys basketball semifinals. But those weren’t ghosts staring from across the floor – they were Saints — as in the four-time defending league champions from Neumann-Goretti, which has claimed the crown six of the last eight seasons.
In the waning moments of their 57-50 semifinal win over Roman Catholic, the St. Joe’s Prep students chanted “We want Neumann” in reference to who they wanted to face in the Catholic League Championship game Monday night. But with the Saints averaging 27-point lead differentials in the playoffs; they should be careful of what they wish for!
