LaSalle beats Temple at Palestra

Philadelphia- On Saturday January 18 from the Cathedral of College Basketball the Palestra on the campus of University of Pennsylvania. A Big 5 encounter took place as the Temple Owls took on the La Salle Explorers, Temple came into game off a Loss to Cincinnati on Jan 14 while LaSalle comes into game off a win over Rhode Island on Jan 15. ESPN brought its pregame Show to the Palestra for the 1st time. The Game was broadcasted on ESPN2 with John Saunders, Tim Legler & Joe Lunardi calling the action, it was on LaSalle Radio 990 AM WNTP Kale Beers, Steve Degler) & on Temple (1210 WPHT Harry Donahue & John Baum)

La Salle won the opening tip to start the game and the games first points came from LaSalle Jerrell Wright  for 2 point layup, Temple first points of game came from Devontae Watson for 2 point layup. La Salle would lead the entire first half and would take a 36-31 lead

La Salle got the ball to begin the 2nd half and continued where they left off from the 1st half, Anthony Lee  got temple on the board to start the 2nd half , on the other hand , Steve Zack  got LaSalle on the board to start the 2nd half, Temple would try to cut the La Salle lead on multiple times in the 2nd, Temple would cut the LaSalle lead down to 2 with under 38 seconds left then LaSalle Tyreek Duren & Tyrone Garland hit big foul shots to ice the game as LaSalle holds on to a 74-68 win & in the process would beat Temple for the 1st time since 2009. LaSalle Tyreek Duren in post game interview to ESPN2 Joe Lunardi “I cant Remember the last Time we beat Temple”. With the win, LaSalle now has won 5 straight games, while Temple has now lost 6 straight games.
