Kris Jenkins 21 leads Villanova over Providence in Big East Semifinals

New York NY: The 4 best teams in the Big East Conference took center stage on Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City as Villanova Wildcats took on the Providence Friars. Villanova entered the game with a record of (27-4, 16-2 Big East) and off a win over Georgetown in the quarterfinals while Providence has a (23-9, 10-8 Big East) record and took down Bulter in the quarterfinals. This is the 3rd time that Villanova & Providence will be playing each other as both teams have a win against each other. Villanova Daniel Ochefu did not start as he was battling with Ankle Injury and Darryl Reynolds got the Start.
Providence won the tip to start the game and score the games first points when Kris Dunn made 1/2 from the line, Kris Jenkins got Villanova on the board with basket for 2-1 lead. This was a very tight game with a lot of defense, both teams had some good scoring opportunities. The Friars would keep the game very close but Wildcats took it over and grew the lead to 9 points at 29-20 with 2:52 left in the half. Providence would get the lead down to 5 as Villanova took a 32-27 lead into halftime.
Villanova got ball to start the 2nd half and the Wildcats would open the game up more lead by 2 straight three pointers by Kris Jenkins to get ti 38-27. Wildcats would have its largest lead of game at 13 points at 50-37 with 12:01 left in 2nd half. Providence Ben Bentil was in foul trouble the entire game and he would foul out with 9:40 left. The friars would go on a run and they would cut the lead down to 2 at 55-53 on three pointer by Kyron Cartwright with 6:59 left. Villanova Jalen Brunson would foul out with 4:02 left. Providence would go on a run to try to extend the game and they would come up short as the Villanova Wildcats would take down Friars 76-68 to advance to their 2nd straight Big East Championship game to defend their title. This game was an old school big game, good defense, alot of exciting plays. Villanova would play the winner of Seton Hall vs Xavier in the Championship game tomorrow night at 5:30 PM on FOX.
