JVR Returns For the Flyers

Prior to the game vs. their Atlantic Division rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins, Flyers GM Paul Holmgren announced that forward James van Riemsdyk WILL be in the lineup.

It will be van Riemsdyk’s first game since Jan. 12 vs. New York Islanders after being out indefinitely with a concussion that caused him to miss the last 15 games.

In 37 regular season games, van Riemsdyk has posted 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points and 22 penalty minutes in an average of 15:10 of ice-time per-game. The Flyers went 6-6-3 in his absence.

Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette also announced that Ilya Bryzgalov will get the start in net today vs. Penguins.

Bryzgalov has posted a 1.42 GAA and .944 save percentage in six appearances since the NHL All-Star break, going 2-1-0 in that span. Since the New Year, he has recorded a 6-3-0 record with a 2.27 GAA and .921 save percentage, including a perfect 5-0-0 record in nine appearances on home ice.
