Asked USGA Mike Davis about Philly Response to having US Open at Merion:

Asked New US Open Champion Justin Rose about Winning the US Open at Merion:

Phil Mickelson on finishing runner up at US Open for a 6th time “Heartbreak”

Justin Rose to NBC Sports Bob Costas “I saw the (Hogan plaque on 18) and I thought, this is my moment.”

Phil Mickelson on playing in Philly: “the people here have been fabulous.  And to look at the members and what they’ve done and the homeowners, what they’ve sacrificed to allow this tournament to come back is pretty cool.  The way the community has wanted this and supports this tournament, more so than just about any place we’ve ever been. We’ve played U.S. Opens at great golf courses where the membership voted not to have us back.  Here they want us back, they’re opening their homes to the USGA for the infrastructure.  Coming out when they can’t really see too much, coming out to be a part of the tournament.  It’s great the way the city of Philadelphia has supported this tournament.  I hope we have a chance to come back.”

Phil Mickelson “I think this was my best Chance to win because I was playing so well & I loved the golf course so much”

Rory McIlroy about Merion “It was great.  I thought it was a really good test.  I thought the atmosphere out there ‑‑ obviously when you’re in a group like I was the first two days, it’s going to be great anywhere.  I enjoyed the week.  Regardless of not playing my best. I thought it was a great venue and a venue that hopefully we come back to.”

Rory McIlroy “Merion has beaten up on us so much.”

Tiger Woods about Merion “I’m sure it will come back.  Obviously there are some vendors that are going to make more money with hospitality and that nature.  But I think that overall as a golf course, yes, it can be played.  They move the tees back, and they give us some pretty tough pins this week.  But certainly as a golf course‑wise, it could definitely host another Major Championship. But I don’t know if USGA wants to ‑‑ they make a lot of money on other venues.”

Tiger Woods on How Merion Played “It played tricky.  The rough was up.  They were raking the rough up every morning
into the grain.  And the pins were really tough”
