Josh Hart & Wildcats Win 2017 Big East Championship

New York NY: After the long grind of conference play, the 2 best teams remain in the Big East as the Villanova Wildcats took on Creighton Blue Jays in the Championship game of the Big East Tournament on Saturday night from Madison Square Garden in New York. Villanova & Creighton made the title game by grinding out wins over Seton Hall & Xavier in the Semifinals.
Creighton won the tip to start the game and Villanova would open the scoring when Kris Jenkins hits 3 pointer for the early 3-0 lead, Justin Patton would get Creighton on the board with a dunk. Creighton would keep the score close in the 1st half but every time they tried to the Wildcats would have an answer as the Wildcats would take a 36-22 lead into halftime.
Villanova got ball to start the 2nd half and they would continue to put the pressure on Creighton as the Wildcats would get the lead back up to 19 at 52-33 with 11:33 left. Creighton would make an effort to get back into the game but the defense by the Wildcats would be too much as a crowd of 19,812 saw the Villanova Wildcats take down Creighton 74-60 to win the 2017 Big East Championship which is their 2nd Big East Championship in 3 years, last one in 2015 when they took down Xavier. Villanova Josh Hart was named MVP of the Big East Tournament. Kris Jenkins & Jalen Brunson were named to the Big East All Tournament Team.
