Jaroslav Halak flubs Flyers’ goal with 2.1 secs left, prevents clinch (Video) (Puck Daddy)

Jaroslav Halak would like that one back. So would the New York Islanders. So would their fans. Brayden Schenn? He’s probably cool with it. So are the Philadelphia Flyers, who prevented the Islanders from clinching a playoff spot with a 5-4 victory at home, thanks to a terrible goal surrendered by Halak. Schenn collected the puck in the neutral zone, brought into the Islanders zone and fired a puck through defenseman Travis Hamonic. The long-range shot, just inside of the blueline, fooled Halak and gave the Flyers the win with 2.1 seconds remaining. “I don’t know what happened. It hit my stick, I thought I had it and it was behind me,” said Halak, via Steven Lorenzo. Said captain John Tavares: “We’ve got to pick up our teammate, stay together and focus on the next one. I’ve had tough games, tough situations. I don’t think this should be blamed on Jaro, he’s been great for us all year.” The loss prevented the Islanders from clinching a playoff spot, which could have happened had the game gone to overtime. Is there cause for concern with Halak? He followed a shutout of the Sabres with that 5-spot to the Flyers; before the Buffalo game, he had given up 10 goals in three games.  MORE FROM YAHOO HOCKEY
