Flyers sack head coach Berube after missing playoffs (AFP)

The Philadelphia Flyers, who finished the NHL season 14 points out of a playoff position, sacked head coach Craig Berube on Friday. The move ended Berube’s two-year tenure in the job. He took over in October 2013 after Peter Laviolette was fired just three games into the 2013-14 campaign. Philadelphia bounced back from an 0-3 start to make the playoffs in Berube’s first season, but fell in the first round.
