Fairfield Wins Tight Game vs Saint Joseph’s 60-57

On Saturday December 22 from Hawk Hill, the Saint Joseph’s Hawks took on the Fairfield Stags in an afternoon game. The Hawks were coming into this game off an emotional loss to Villanova back on December 11, while Fairfield was coming into this game off a win over Drexel on December 16. The Game was broadcasted on 610 WIP AM, The Hawks started the game with the ball and the first points of the game came from Fairfield’s Derek Needham with a three Pointer. The first points for Saint Joseph’s came from Langston Galloway with a two point basket.  The score was 3-2 Stags over the Hawks early on. The first foul of the game was given to to Fairfield’s Keith Matthews with 15:30 left in the first half. Saint Joseph’s Ronald Roberts had three straight possions which ended with dunks.  The Hawks were up 13-11 with 12:46 left in the first half.  Near the end of the first, Fairfield’s Derek Needham had 16 points while the Hawks Robert Roberts had 14 points. At the half, Fairfield led Saint Joseph’s 28-27.

Fairfield started the second half with the ball, but didn’t do too much.  The Hawks Langston Galloway meanwhile  hit three straight three pointers to tie the game at 37.  The effort would not be enough though as Fairfield would eventually pick up the win, 60-57.
