Explorers Tame Dragons in City 6 Matchup

Philadelphia PA: As the entire nation comes off the Thanksgiving holiday, there was city bragging rights that were at stake on Sunday afternoon as LaSalle Explorers took on Drexel Dragons from Daskalakis Athletic Center on the campus of Drexel University. Drexel comes into game with a (2-3) record and off a loss to Niagara on November 23 while LaSalle comes into city showdown with a (1-2) record and off a loss to Texas Southern at the Buzzer on November 19.
Drexel won the tip to start the game and LaSalle would open up the scoring with 3 pointer by B.J. Johnson for early 3-0 lead. Drexel got on the board with basket from Kurk Lee. Both teams would make their shots and play good defense as the Dragons got the LaSalle lead down to 1 at 11-10 with 15:27 left in 1st half, LaSalle would take contol of the game by going on a run which saw them grow the lead up to 20 at 36-16 with 7:09 left in the half. LaSalle would take a 44-27 lead into halftime.
LaSalle got ball to start the 2nd half and Drexel jumped out on them to score 4 straight points by Kurk Lee. The Explorers would just take to the Dragons as the lead go grow as high as 23 at 68-45 with 12:27 left in the 2nd half. Drexel would change things up and Explorers would make some mental mistakes, one of them was Pookie Powell who went for the Dunk, instead of layup, Blows the Dunk & get Taken out of game. Drexel would try to keep this game close but it would not be enough as LaSalle would win this City 6 game by the score of 89-78. The story in the game was the 3pt shooting by LaSalle as they would make 13 3pt shots on 21 shots at 61.9%. With the loss Drexel falls to 2-4 on the season and now have to do a quick turnaround as they take on Lafayette on November 30, while LaSalle goes to .500 on the season at 2-2 and look toward game against Lehigh also on November 30.
