Eagles Sign QB Dennis Dixon to Multi-Year Contract

The Philadelphia Eagles announced yesterday that they have signed QB Dennis Dixon to a two year contract. Dixon was drafted in 5th round of 2008 draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers and a member of the Ravens practice squad last year. Chip Kelly was Dennis Dixon’s Offensive coordinator with Oregon in 2007. Starting 38 games as QB, Dixon passed for 5,129 yards, 38 passing touchdowns, while rushing for 1,208 with 12 touchdowns. In 2007, Dixon Led the Ducks to #2 rank as a senior with a 67.7 cmp %, 2136 yds, 20 TDs, 4 INTs, 583 rush yds and he won the 2007 Sun Bowl over South Florida.

CSN Geoff Mosher spoke to Dennis Dixon agent Jeff Sperbeck about the signing & said the following:

Sperbeck: “Ravens were interested in re-signing Dixon to compete for No. 2 QB spot behind Flacco.”

Sperbeck: “There is no belief that he doesn’t have to compete. We know how hard he’s gonna have to compete to win it.”

Sperbeck: “Nothing is being handed to him. He’s got to prove that he’s still a guy that can execute that offense at a very high level.”

Sperbeck: “Chip has made it clear that there is an open competition and I think Dennis fits into that open competition.”

Interesting fact, Dixon has won two super bowls with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012 & Pittsburgh Steelers in 2008
