Dragons Grind out OT Win vs Hofstra

Philadelphia PA: The grind of conference play can make or break a team during the season and that is what took place on Thursday night as the Drexel Dragons took on Hofstra Pride from Daskalakis Athletic Center on the campus of Drexel University. Drexel enters the game with (7-13,1-6 in CAA) and off a bad loss to UNCW on January 21 while Hofstra comes into this game against the Dragons with (10-11, 2-6 in CAA) and off a win over Northeastern also on January 21.
Hofstra won the tip to start the game and they would score the games first points on basket by Rokas Gustys for the early 2-0 lead, Drexel would get on the board with basket from Rodney Williams. The Dragons would make things very difficult for Hofstra as the lead would grow as high as 14 points at 37-23 with 3:01 left. The Dragons would take a 44-31 lead into halftime
Drexel got ball to start the 2nd half and the Dragons kept the fight going to Hofstra and got the lead to 15 at 46-31, the Pride would go on a run 12-0 run over 6 minutes which saw the Dragons lead get down to 1 at 55-54 with 8:51 left. Dragons freshman guard Kurk Lee would hit a big 3 pointer for a 67-62 lead with 3:22 left. Hofstra would take the lead late at 69-68 on layup from Justin Wright Foreman with 30 seconds left, Dragons would make 1/2 from the line and this one would need more time as we had to overtime tied at 69.
In Overtime, both teams would trade baskets, the Pride would have a 80-78 lead with 41 seconds left, left, then, Dragons Kurk lee would hit a dagger 3 pointer with 21 seconds for a 81-80 lead, Hofstra would have 3 golden chances at the rim to win the game but the ball would not drop as the Dragons would win this game 81-80. With the win the Dragons are now (8-13, 2-6 in CAA) and have to get ready for battle with Charleston on Jan 28 while the Pride would fall to (10-12, 2-7 in CAA) and look to bounce back against Elon also on Jan 28. In this game, Hofstra player Eli Pemberton got hurt in the 1st half and did not return, Coach Joe Mijalich did not have update on him.
